Flicker Magazine Issue 2 celebrates queer art, film and culture

Queer culture keeps moving in many directions at once. Some spaces close, new ones appear and communities rebuild themselves in ways that feel both fragile and strong. London, New York, Paris and Bangkok shift at different speeds, yet the stories inside this issue show how art, film, drag and community continue to grow wherever people create space for each other.
This 88 page issue is shaped by a team working at full speed. To our Art Director, Lex Melony, whose work moves with the speed of a rocket, the visual world of Flicker keeps expanding with clarity, rhythm and life. The writers, editors, photographers and contributors across London and Paris bring the same focus and care to every page.
Our cover story features Olivia Strange, a London based artist blending myth, ritual, queerness and humour in work that turns old narratives into new forms of care.
Inside the issue you will find:
• Catalina Croitoru on leaving Bucharest, building a life in London and creating the award winning short Dani_el.
• Lloyd Hamilton, whose sculptures explore masculinity, leather and the experience of ageing Black queer bodies.
• Hugh Ross, reflecting on growing up gay in Scotland, RADA, partnership, and decades of work on stage and screen.
• OFN Film Festival, Paris Edition, with all twelve selected films, jury winners and moments from the sold out night.
• Two Black Boys in Paradise, a stop motion film shaped by care, craft and Black queer tenderness, told through the voices of the creative team.
• BFI London Film Festival 2025 visual essay, featuring Pillion, The History of Sound, FuckToys, Frankenstein and Sentimental Value along with appearances from Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Mescal, Elle Fanning, Tilda Swinton and more.
• Reviews, including Annapurna Sriram’s F*cktoys and The Importance of Being Earnest at Noël Coward Theatre.
• Alice Lucy preparing for three roles in Ms Holmes and Ms Watson at Arcola Theatre.
• Priscilla from Drag Race Italia on drag, activism and her path from Naples to international stages.
• Festive Queer Getaways, with five winter escapes covering Miami, Avoriaz, Bangkok, Bali and Gran Canaria, written for both UK and US readers.
• Updated London and New York queer theatre listings, with simple links to book current shows.
Issue 2 brings a mix of interviews, film, theatre, travel and community moments that reflect queer life across different places and scenes.
