Crybabies bring their horror comedy to Soho Theatre this September with the team behind Baby Reindeer

The Scaring runs at Soho Theatre Main House from 3 to 23 September 2026. Directed by Jon Brittain and produced by Francesca Moody Productions, it follows their Edinburgh Fringe run with a transfer to the venue where Fleabag began.

Crybabies are Michael Clarke, James Gault and Ed Jones. The Scaring is their new show, and it is a horror.

When former priest Arthur Holland checks into a remote hotel, he discovers the breakfast buffet is not the only threat to life. Forced into an unlikely double act with Gerry, the ghost of a long-dead guest, Arthur must tackle demons both personal and supernatural under the eye of Mr Lyle, the hotel's Norman Bates-adjacent manager. What follows involves Shakespearean zombies, broken-armed serial killers, walking waxworks and whiplash-fast costume changes. Big-budget horror built from low-budget nonsense.

Jon Brittain directs. His own play Rotterdam, about a trans relationship, won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre in 2017. He later directed Baby Reindeer, which won the same award, and Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder. Francesca Moody Productions originated both Fleabag and Baby Reindeer. Fleabag went to Broadway. Baby Reindeer became Netflix's most watched show of 2024. This is the company that knows how to find something in a small room and follow it somewhere.

Clarke appeared in Disney's Extraordinary and Netflix's Lockwood and Co. Jones appeared in Big Boys, Jack Rooke's queer Channel 4 series, alongside Bridgerton and Not Going Out. Gault trained as a clown at L'Ecole Philippe Gaulier and has appeared in After Life and Trespasses. Their BBC radio series Crybabies Present received two consecutive BBC Audio Drama Award nominations.

Set and costume by Cecilia Carey, lighting by Bethany Gupwell, sound by Ed Lewis, video by Nina Dunn.

Soho Theatre, 21 Dean Street, W1D 3NE. 3 to 23 September 2026, 9pm nightly.

Press night Monday 7 September.
