The first ever Drag Race movie arrives in UK cinemas on 21 August and it sounds gloriously unhinged
Stop! That! Train! stars Ginger Minj and Jujubee as train stewardesses who must save a luxury bullet train from a catastrophic Stormaganza, with RuPaul as the President of the United States. Directed by Adam Shankman. The Guardian calls it a madcap riot that deserves a spot in drag comedy herstory.
Stop! That! Train! is produced by World of Wonder and Unapologetic Projects, co-produced with Universal Pictures, and directed by Adam Shankman, whose previous credits include Hairspray. It opened in the United States on 12 June 2026 and arrives in UK and Ireland cinemas on 21 August.
The film follows best friends Tess, played by Ginger Minj, and DeeDee, played by Jujubee, train stewardesses who trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When a catastrophic Stormaganza threatens to derail the high-speed train and crash it into Los Angeles, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first class attendants and President Gagwell, played by RuPaul, to save the day.
The first class attendants are played by Brooke Lynn Hytes as Amber, Marcia Marcia Marcia as Allie and Symone as the ridiculously spelled Ayshleiygh. Latrice Royale, Monét X Change and Angeria Paris VanMicheals also appear. The supporting cast includes Chris Parnell, Joel McHale, Jerry O'Connell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Nicole Richie, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rachel Bloom, Missi Pyle, Michelle Visage and Lisa Rinna.
Rotten Tomatoes describes it as a propulsive farce that stays on the tracks thanks to Ginger Minj and Jujubee's heartfelt rapport, chugging along splendidly with its daffy humour and sweet celebration of drag culture. Loud and Clear Reviews called it the funniest movie you will see this year. The Guardian's Owen Myers gave it four stars and called it a 90-minute madcap riot that deserves a spot in drag comedy herstory.
Ginger Minj and Jujubee spent most of 2025 touring together on Hokus Pokus Live!, so their chemistry as best friends is not something the film has to manufacture. It shows.
Stop! That! Train! is in UK and Ireland cinemas from Friday 21 August 2026.
