A queer slasher about OnlyFans creators versus a killer blow-up doll is out Monday and it looks gloriously unhinged
Blowie is released on digital platforms on 26 May. Co-directed by altSHIFT, Ed Aldridge and Sam Lidbetter, it stars real-life adult performers and is distributed by Dark Star Pictures.
Blowie follows a group of sex workers who rent a remote mansion to shoot OnlyFans content until a tragic accident unleashes Blowie, a doll-faced killer with a thirst for vengeance. The tagline is: who will die, who will survive, who will cum. The film is not trying to be subtle.
Co-written and co-directed by altSHIFT alongside Ed Aldridge and Sam Lidbetter, the film blends bloody slasher thrills with camp humour, supernatural horror and queer erotic energy. The cast includes real-life adult performers Bishop Black, Gabriel Cross, Kayden Gray, Leander, Clark Lewis and Kali Sudhra.
Distributed by Dark Star Pictures, the indie label that has been building a reputation around LGBTQ-inclusive genre filmmaking since its founding in 2017, Blowie positions itself as an intentionally chaotic celebration of queer horror traditions rather than shock cinema. The practical gore is exaggerated, the visual comedy is sharp, and the killer is dressed as a human-sized blow-up doll stalking a mansion full of people trying to get some work done. As horror premises go it is genuinely inspired.
Blowie is available on digital platforms and on demand from 26 May.
