Gay Man and His Lesbian Best Friend Head to First Dates Hotel Together Looking for Love.

Joel, 29, and Melis, 28, are both single, both ready, and both heading to Mallorca on this week's episode of the German dating show.

First Dates Hotel is back on German TV channel Vox this Monday, and this week's episode comes with a setup that will feel very familiar to a lot of queer people. Joel, a 29-year-old content creator from Hamburg, and Melis, a 28-year-old model booker also from Hamburg, are best friends. He's gay. She's a lesbian. And they've decided to go on their search for love together.

Joel has been single for five years. His only previous relationship was, by his own account, deeply damaging, and he has been cautious about letting anyone close since. He knows what he wants now though. Someone taller than him, ideally with tattoos, and someone who will take him as he is. Melis is looking for her own person too. She has said she finds feminine women attractive and is after someone she can actually spend proper time with. Whether either of them finds what they're looking for, viewers in Germany will find out on Monday night.

First Dates Hotel has been running on Vox in primetime since 2019, hosted by chef Roland Trettl, and has featured queer contestants regularly across its run. The show airs at 20:15 on Vox every Monday and is also available to stream in advance on RTL+.
